Path through a misty fairyland with ancient trees. This image is part of my pilgrimage to not just go back to my roots, but also to photograph old trees before they vanish. These ancient trees have been a witness to my mum walking by, which is a memory I don't even have and the paths that she walked, that she took pictures of, with me as a tiny toddler in it, are part of a very personal project. I photograph these trees to tell the story of their age, their fragility and this moment in time which is crucial in the survival of so many old trees. On this particularly beautiful autumn morning the light had been more than magical unlike I had ever seen before. The leaves were still an understated green and yellow, which I much prefer to the vibrant orange colours that come later. This is an awarded photograph
