A digital work of a bee on a flower. The bee is a derivative of a pencil drawing and the flower, a sunflower is derived from a photograph where a photo of a colony of bees was mounted. Through the bee, the sunflower was also mounted so that a cross-pollination occurred.
Behind the entire work, the bee is placed in white frame-filling, as a detail. Throughout the image, the bees are also running in black in miniature.
Unfortunately, things are not going so well for the bees due to, among other things, intensive agriculture and the use of poison. We have actually known for a long time that we should stop this, but unfortunately poison is still used on a large scale.
Without bees (and other insects) our crops are largely no longer pollinated.
