The Rosstrappe is a 403 metre high granite rock above the left bank of the Bode, which is considered one of the most magnificent rock formations north of the Alps. There is a depression on the rock that resembles a giant hoofprint. This is probably one of the reasons why numerous legends and myths have surrounded the granite massif for centuries. The best-known legend tells of the creation of the legendary hoofprint that gave the rock its name.
