An early morning walk on the Veluwe, that can only produce beautiful pictures, I thought. Well nothing was less true, because this morning was very disappointing. I did not find beautiful heather, with some mist over it and a deer looking back at me in the distance... no, I found nothing at all.
Almost at the end of the hike I step out of the forest edge, and see the sun coming up. A few meters away is a dead tree, all crooked and hanging half over my path. I look around the tree a bit, looking for the mushroom, but because of the sunlight I can't see much.
Until I saw this little branch. I take a few pictures, because I thought it was kind of funny that a dead tree can still provide life. Nature takes care of itself. Once home I only realized that I was photographing against the sun, and I see this picture in front of me. Of that morning, this is my best photo, and definitely one of my favorites.
