Hilma af Klint on canvas, poster, wallpaper and ArtFrame by Peter Balan

Hilma af Klint (1862-1944) was a Swedish painter and pioneer of abstract art. She began her career as a landscape and portrait painter but later turned to abstraction, creating complex and spiritual works influenced by her spiritual practice and interest in Theosophy and Anthroposophy. Although she produced groundbreaking pieces, she received little recognition during her lifetime as her abstract works were considered too unconventional for her time. It was only after her death that her work was rediscovered by the art world and recognized as significant to the development of abstract art.
