Nils Dardel (1888–1943) was a Swedish painter, best known for his colorful, surreal, and often grotesque works. He was part of the Paris art scene in the 1910s and 1920s, influenced by modernism, symbolism, and naive art. His paintings are characterized by vibrant colors, whimsical subjects, and a blend of reality and fantasy. One of his most famous works is *The Dying Dandy* (1918), which explores the conflict between beauty and mortality. Dardel's art is playful, dramatic, and often tinged with a melancholic undertone.
