About ‘Angling @ Komodo, Indonesia’ by Travel Tips and Stories

The frogfish (belonging to the order of anglerfish) is one of the most bizarre, comical and beloved inhabitants of Komodo National Park in Indonesia.

These fish are masters of camouflage and possess evolutionary tricks that are unique in the animal kingdom. Why the frogfish is so specialThe built-in fishing rod: On top of their head, they have a modified dorsal fin ray (the illicium) with a ‘bait’ (the esca) at the tip. This bait looks different depending on the species—such as a worm, a shrimp or a small fish. The anglerfish moves this bait back and forth right in front of its mouth to lure curious prey.
The fastest attack in the world: As soon as a prey is close enough, the anglerfish snaps its mouth shut. This happens in just 6 milliseconds (1/6000th of a second). A vacuum is created that sucks the prey in whole. They can swallow prey twice their own size.
Walking instead of swimming: Anglerfish have no swim bladder and are very heavy. Instead of swimming, they use their pectoral and pelvic fins as a sort of legs to walk or hop across the seabed.
Chameleon-like camouflage: They can slowly change colour to blend in perfectly with their surroundings (sponges, algae or coral). Some species even grow hairy structures or warts to resemble a tuft of seaweed or a rock.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
