About the artwork

*** Attention: Real photography - no AI! ***

Bathing tourism on Usedom began in the Baltic seaside resort of Heringsdorf. The first hotel was opened in 1825 and by the end of the century the former fishing colony had developed into the "Nice of the Baltic Sea". Heringsdorf is still one of the most popular holiday resorts on the Baltic Sea today.

Until recently, the Heringsdorf pier on the Baltic Sea island of Usedom was the longest pier in Germany at 508 metres in length.

This photo was taken shortly before sunrise.

The Baltic Sea fascinates with its endless white sandy beaches, dune landscapes, small idyllic fishing villages, modern Baltic seaside resorts, venerable Hanseatic towns, coastal forests and unique natural landscapes and much more. It is a true holiday paradise. The Baltic Sea coasts in Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania have a coastline of around 700 kilometres, not even including the islands, Bodden and lagoon. The Polish Baltic coast has a length of approx. 500 km.

The largest German islands are located in the Baltic Sea: Rügen is the largest island in Germany with an area of 930 square kilometres. Usedom, the second largest island in Germany, is approximately 373 square kilometres in size. Fehmarn follows with around 185 square kilometres.
