Narrow alleys and cozy houses: the charm of old Berlin comes alive in the idyllic Nikolai Quarter.
The idyllic Nikolaiviertel in Mitte is an important part of Berlin's urban history and the oldest residential area in Berlin. But its medieval-looking alleys and cozy little houses are mostly post-war buildings.
The roaring big city lingers behind, small houses instead of high-rises, suddenly narrow alleys instead of sprawling boulevards: Only the Berlin TV tower above the rooftops reminds you that the Nikolaiviertel is not a romantic small town - but lies in the middle of lively Berlin.
