This work was born from a stream of words that just kept coming. Sentences that danced in my head, cheerful, playful and sometimes just straight from the heart: enjoy life, be happy, grateful, love life. I wrote them layer by layer, as if I were unfolding a diary and folding it again. Each intermediate layer was given a veil of acrylic paint, so that the words did not completely disappear.
On top came dabs of paint from my palette. Scraps of colour, put down impulsively, without thinking. As if the painting was telling me where to direct the energy. With oil pastels I reinforced the lines, expressive, firm and idiosyncratic. The face emerged naturally. First just outlines, then those bright cheeks, the blue eyes that almost pierce you. And suddenly there she was: a lady radiating positivity and self-assurance.
She looks at you with a gaze that says: here I am. Powerful, colourful and without apologies. She carries the words inside her, but no longer needs them to proclaim their message. She ís the message.
An ode to life, love and courage.
