Coffee begins long before the first sip - the aroma of grinding and the joy of small rituals. I wanted to capture exactly this moment in this still life: The shovel full of roasted beans, partly run out, partly still heavy and fragrant - a symbol of a living culture of enjoyment.
I am fascinated by the many facets of coffee beans: each grain has its own shape, pattern and texture. The intense roasted colour spans the spectrum between brown and copper - almost like hand-polished wood. The rough, forged surface underneath reflects the light only sparingly, emphasising the depth of the motif.
The diagonal composition of the picture directs the eye and conveys movement, almost as if the moment were fleeting. It is a picture for coffee lovers, baristas and connoisseurs who are mindful of their rituals.
In the kitchen, above the espresso machine or in a small café, this motif is not just decoration - but a declaration of love for flavours, craftsmanship and the art of the moment.
