Sankt Katharinen is one of Hamburg's five main churches. Its 13th-century spire is considered the oldest upright building in Hamburg that still fulfils its function. It is located opposite the Speicherstadt and is considered the church of the sailors because of its proximity to the harbour.
The Speicherstadt is the largest warehouse ensemble in the world and extends over around 26 hectares between Baumwall and Oberhafen in the Port of Hamburg.
