While on holiday at Camping Cévennes-Provence near Anduze, France, we visited this park in Nîmes. It is an old park, where many people from Nîmes and its surroundings seek their entertainment and relaxation. The park is much photographed and, as a tourist, I couldn't help but capture this beautiful setting. The walls guide you through the picture in a pleasant way and each time you discover new details, so you don't get bored looking at it. I composed this picture from two photos so that it became a panorama. The photo is also in black and white in my shop. Placing both variants in the shop creates the possibility to compare them and make your own choice, which you prefer.
At the club exhibition of FotoExpressieGroepGemert last May, a fellow photographer recognised the park and was able to tell, that the same park was photographed in 1859 by the famous French photographer Edouard Denis Baldus. He then titled the photo Jardin de la Fontaine, Nîmes. The park is also called that, so why should I assign a different name to this photo? The photo looks best in large format.
