Lines in summer green by Marcel Hechler

Viewed from above, the familiar landscape dissolves into pure planes and lines. A light-coloured dirt track cuts across the image, dividing it into two worlds: above, the neatly tilled fields in many shades of green, criss-crossed by fine wheel tracks and a warm, sand-coloured strip; below, a mown meadow over which the long shadows of a row of trees fall.

The photograph was taken during a walk near Lake Aalkistensee, close to Maulbronn. I had my drone with me and let it rise vertically above the path — and suddenly, a perfectly ordinary stretch of open countryside transformed into an almost graphic pattern. It is only on second glance that one recognises the individual trees and bushes, their varying heights, and the fine tracks in the grass.

It is a calm, fresh image. The deep green and the flat light, which casts the shadows so far across the meadow, lend it a quiet order — nothing is loud, everything has its place.

For me, the photograph speaks of the beauty of the ordinary: a path, a few trees, cultivated fields. Seen from above, it becomes a small composition.

On the wall, this green has a calming and clear effect — ideal for a bright living room, a study or a hallway in a natural, modern style.
