About ‘Materia’ by a.p.ARTandMore

The image is a structured grid consisting of 18 individual squares, each showing a close-up of different metal surfaces and industrial structures.

It is a compendium of materiality. The images reveal a variety of textures: from steel and etched metal plates to oxidised iron with traces of rust. One can make out weld seams, marks left by mechanical processing, grid-like structures, scratches and natural signs of wear and tear.

The image is defined by a striking contrast between the cool, intense blue and the warm, earthy tones of rust and corrosion (ochre, orange, brown).

The grid-based arrangement (3x6) creates an analytical order that translates the chaos of industrial decay into an aesthetic graphic.

The artwork unfolds a raw, industrial poetry that lends new meaning to the signs of ageing and decay. As one contemplates the individual fragments, a narrative emerges about transience, labour and materiality. The cool, industrial blue clashes with the warmth of the oxidising rust, creating a visual tension that literally invites the viewer to explore the surfaces through touch. It offers a glimpse into the hidden, an archaeological survey of urban reality in which beauty lies in what is normally overlooked. The atmosphere is calm, focused and yet powerful, as it celebrates the raw energy of matter as it yields to the laws of time and the environment.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
