Waiʻaleʻale is a shield volcano and is the second highest mountain on Kauaʻi Island in Hawaiʻi after Kawaikini. The summit of Waiʻaleʻale is 1569 meters high and is known as one of the rainiest places on earth (335 rainy days per year). The name means "rippling" or "overflowing water" in the Hawaiian language. The summit of Waiʻaleʻale is covered by clouds all year round.
