Tips for use

Point your camera at the floor or a piece of furniture first, then move it slowly up towards the wall. A bare white wall is hard for your phone to recognise.
Move your phone gently from side to side. Holding it still or waving it around quickly does not help.
Make sure there is enough light. In a dark room your phone has nothing to lock onto.

About ‘Poppies in the evening glow’ by Marcel Hechler

A single poppy, in the middle of the tall grass at the edge of a cornfield. As I wandered through the Kraichgau that evening, the sun was already low in the sky, and its light lay like a warm veil over the meadow. It was at precisely that moment that I found this one flower — a brilliant red, almost translucent, as the last rays of sunlight shone through its delicate petals from behind.

Surrounding it are the bristly buds and ripening poppy capsules, alongside the still-green ears of grain. Everything is soft; the background dissolves into a golden haze. I deliberately knelt down and photographed against the light to create this luminous, almost painted effect.

For me, the image evokes a quiet summer’s evening — the tranquillity just before dusk, when the light is at its most beautiful and a single stalk suddenly takes centre stage. It is not a loud subject, but one that invites you to pause and reflect.

Hanging on the wall, this picture creates a warm, soothing atmosphere. It suits living rooms and bedrooms where a calm, natural feel is desired — whether in a country-style home or a modern, minimalist setting, wherever a touch of warm summer and tranquil nature is welcome.
