The concept of the hollowed-out asteroid has been described by science fiction authors like Greg Bear, Arthur C. Clarke and Kim Stanley Robinson. In this artist's impression, we stand on the shore of one of the many lakes in the asteroid 16 Psyche. Two men are on a wooden jetty, a swan spreads its wings, a small yacht sails past. On the opposite side we see the waterfront of a big city. Behind it are hills and lakes that bend up into a huge cylindrical space with a width of 50 kilometers. Right and left majestic cliffs rise up 90 kilometers to the central axis of Psyche.
