About ‘Soulmirror 1’ by Tessera Gallery

Eyes are the mirror of the soul. The artworks in this series of Tessera's are made with small tiles cut from vintage children's book covers.

Each tile is a 1:1 digital version of a real piece of book cover previously used in one of my handmade mosaics.

For more than a decade, I have been digitising and archiving these small tiles in a database that has now grown to over 75,000 'pixels'.

In this way, each tile in a digital Tessera artwork is inextricably linked to a unique piece of book cover located in a handmade artwork somewhere in the world.

From his studio in the forests of Appélbergen, south of the city of Groningen, Tessera creates enchanting works of art from tiny tiles cut from recycled covers of old children's books. Each work contains up to several thousand tiny tiles, carefully arranged in colorful compositions, creating an enchanting, pointillist, almost paint-like impression.

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
