I have very fond memories of summer holidays on the islands. All day by the water, in the sand. Returning to our cottage with 'beach hair'. Day after day, sometimes there seemed to be no end to it. Lovely!
This image will relax you. The planes are large, the colours bright. They sometimes flow into each other, but mostly follow their own path. I picture it above your sand-coloured sofa, or next to your (Danish designer) dining table.
At my studio in Haarlem, I make watercolours on paper. I use a few colours of acrylic inks that I let flow and mix on the wet paper. So it is handmade work, which you can sometimes see by small dots of accumulated paint.
Many of my works are reminiscent of landscapes or nature in general, even though the colours are often bright and exuberant.
I always hope than people can see their own image or story in it, so that it goes beyond my interpretation or idea.
After graduating from the Rietveld Academy, I started working as a freelance visual artist in 2012. I mostly make graphic and illustrative expressions, but when my schedule permits, I prefer to make autonomous art. Which I share with you here!.. Read more…
