When you are in love, your life is a little lighter, more pleasant. The so-called view through rose-coloured glasses. That's what I think of when I think of this work. It feels spring-like, full of possibilities of growth and progress. I feel like starting the day!
This work is a cut-out of a handmade work I made at my studio in Haarlem. I like to use a small number of colours, which I let come together on the (wet) paper. Here they blend and flow into each other.
In this work, I used mainly magenta and two shades of green. This is quite complementary, but because of the many white spaces, the colours were allowed to bleed out a lot and became softer and pastel shades.
I can imagine this work very well in the bedroom. And with the green tones, it could also make for a nice transition between living room and garden. In any case, they also remind me of abstract flowers.
