About ‘Taste, Hearing and Touch’
This painting is a symbolic representation of three of the five senses, namely hearing, touch and taste. The corresponding painting shows the other two senses, namely sight and smell. Jan Brueghel (Brussels, 1568 - Antwerp, 13 January 1625) was a southern Dutch painter of the Baroque period. He is sometimes referred to as the Velvet Brueghel.
