About ‘The Iron Cape’ by Max ter Burg Fotografie
The IJzeren Kaap, also known as Kaap Oosterend, was designed in 1854 by architect Quirinus Harder, who would later design Texel's lighthouse. Harder worked as a structural engineer at the Loodswezen and was commissioned to design an iron sea cape that, as a fireless beacon, was visible to ship traffic during the day.
