I created this work when the Black Lives Matter movement spoke out forcefully against racism after the death of George Floyd. I see this black woman as the bringer of news, of new words, new ways of relating to each other. New rights too. Her garb is reminiscent of waves, like the wave movement of the anti-racism movement.

Hanna Maas (1989) is a visual artist from the middle of the Netherlands. She makes illustrations and paintings and captures what appeals to her. Sometimes she paints very intuitively, other times according to observation. Hanna has an impressionistic touch and her work looks both dynamic and soft.
