About ‘The Photographer as Muse’ by Retinas images

This intriguing black-and-white image plays with the boundary between man and object, between body and camera. A woman, clad only in a black cloth and high heels, bends forward in a classic pose reminiscent of the earliest forms of photography. Her body seems to merge into the camera: head and torso disappear completely under the cloth, leaving only her legs visible. This creates a surreal scene in which it becomes unclear who is watching and who is being watched.

The work touches on themes of voyeurism, identity and the power relationship between photographer and model. Is the woman here the one capturing, or is she herself included in the apparatus and thus the object of observation? The image disrupts and excites precisely because the traditional gender roles are reversed.
The tight lighting, the clean lines of the tripod and camera contrast with the round shapes of the body, creating a harmonious field of tension. This makes the work not only conceptually strong, but also aesthetically captivating. It is an ode to photography itself: a medium that both reveals and conceals, that both empowers and takes.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
