I photographed these flowers of the bipinnate hawthorn in Geervliet, Netherlands. This is a small town near Spijkenisse.
The two-stemmed hawthorn, Crataegus laevigata DC, is a plant in the Rose family, found almost everywhere in Europe, but less common than the single-stemmed hawthorn. The species is usually found as a shrub in hedges, thickets and deciduous forest edges, sometimes also as a small tree, for example in the dunes, where its form is strongly influenced by the wind. The two-stemmed hawthorn grows to 4.5 m in height.
In this case I found it at the edge of someone's garden where it had more of a tree shape. The branch I photographed was hanging over the public road.
The pink color of the flowers contrasted nicely with the hazy fresh green background.
