About ‘concrete jungle’ by Denny Stoekenbroek

Concrete Jungle is a dynamic charcoal drawing that captures the soul of the city in black and white. This impressive cityscape shows a busy street full of life, probably somewhere in Manhattan, where pedestrians hurriedly cross under umbrellas and taxis wait patiently for a green light. The rain reflects the light on the asphalt, giving the scene an almost cinematic quality.

What makes this drawing special is the combination of movement and stillness. The vertical lines of the tall buildings create a sense of monumentality and order, while the people and vehicles on the street provide a vivid contrast. Everything exudes urban energy: the agitated rhythm of modern life, anonymity in the crowd, and yet also a sense of belonging - as if each passer-by carries its own story within this larger whole.

With careful shading and subtle contrasts, depth and texture are created. The rain on the asphalt, the reflections, and the sleek architectural forms show a keen eye for detail and atmosphere. Although colourless, this drawing does not lack emotion or intensity - rather, the monochrome palette emphasises the raw reality of city life.

Denny Stoekenbroek (b. 1978) is a Dutch artist specialising in expressive charcoal drawings. His work is characterised by a cinematic atmosphere, strong light-dark contrasts and a deep focus on character and emotion. Denny is self-taught and draws inspiration from vintage photography, classic beauty and timeless portraits. His drawings are sold internationally and he gained fame through his participation in the TV programme "Stars on the Screen".

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
