About ArtEve

Horstick has been taking photographs since she was ten years old. From 2000 to 2003, she studied photo design at Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts and completed her degree with a thesis in Kosovo on the subject of the police and the work of the UN. Three of these works were presented in a travelling exhibition by Terre des Femmes between 2005 and 2016.

Horstick worked as a choreographer and photographer before her studies and as a model for fashion shows in the early 1980s. The idea of mixing fashion shows as theatre with pop music, rock music, opera and dance dates back to this time. Her shows were presented from 1986 to 1997 in North Rhine-Westphalia with her former show and modelling company.

In 1997, her brother died in a road accident and she decided to turn her back on the show and modelling industry and has since pursued her non-profit work on the themes of peace and tolerance as well as identity and the consequences of war. Her first exhibition at the Galerie Am Arkona Platz in Berlin focussed on the Iraq war, the responsibility of the UN and the issue of the Iraq war being sold like an advertising campaign. Gendermainstreaming 2490 focussed on the role of women in wars and the forgetting of victims. This was followed by further exhibitions on domestic violence, human trafficking and forced prostitution. From 1999 to 2011, accompanying projects such as Familien im Revier, 2005-2017 Photo meets Manga and the series Babaismus, among others.
