About ‘Anakie’ by Wendy Grace
Memories o f witnessing the burnt out landscape following the Anakie fires, provided inspiration for this work. Singed earth, with charcoal debris strewn across country plains a vast area ravaged by flames, rendered in umbers, ochres and ash greys. A lunar like landscape, scarred with a sense of desolation.

The natural world is a dazzling continuum of incredible patterns and colours varying in complexity and intensity. The shifting state of form, colours and pattern found in the landscape inspires my photography and painting practice.
I am a painter and photographer living in Melbourne, Australia. I love the Australian landscape and exploring the natural world, new locations and favourite destinations that provide a rich source of imagery for my work.
