Nepal, Kathmandu. The mighty Swayambhunath stupa towers above the city. Recognizable by the white dome with golden tip, that can be seen from far away. Hundreds of colourful prayer flags multiply the prayers, to the rhythm of the wind, under the watchful eye of Buddha. His eyes are painted in all directions on the stupa. It is a long climb to the top, along the many grabbing monkeys. That is why the stupa is also called the Monkey Temple. But the sight and the view from the stupa are more than worth it! During one of my visits, I found the prayer flags not neatly arranged on the lines, but as a colourful tangle behind the prayer wheels.
