About ‘Big Horseshoe Spring’ by Alexandra de Steur

Greater Hoofleaf in a park in Amsterdam. In spring, flower buds emerge from the creeping rhizome even before the leaves are formed. The beginning of the growth process fascinates me in the same way as at the end, during the period of decay. From the inconspicuous rhizome, buds force their way out. Then come the little flowers that, before the leaves emerge, show themselves.
In summer when you see its big green leaves you don't suspect that there is so much variation in shape and colour throughout its life cycle. I see it as a powerful signal that spring has begun .
For this drawing I used coloured pencil on smooth watercolour paper (hot pressed). The drawings were scanned by a professional photo lab and the scans are high-quality .

Through my walks through woods and city parks, I see how some plants transform into a new shape and colour. By taking the plants out of their context, they take on a dynamic of their own. Separated from the whole, you see their own and unique beauty.

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
