Along a field or along a yard there is a fence. This could be a wire or barbed wire. Posts and boards. A metal lattice or wrought iron. Here, the fence is made of branches. Traditionally pruned branches from a patch of forest specifically for the purpose of providing regular wood for where it is needed. Nothing else has been done with it. not peeled, not cut. Fixed with the bark still around it. Now it can last for years, slowly discolouring and disintegrating until it needs to be replaced by new branches. This makes each branch slightly different. Slightly thicker or slightly thinner, slightly greyer or slightly lighter, with more or less fungi or mosses. In this black and white photo, all shades of grey can be found because of the many hues in each branch of the fence. A whole but never boring.
