Cow Wreck Beach at Anegada, the northernmost of the British Virgin Islands in the Caribbean Sea. Accessible by small plane, three-weekly ferry or by private ship. The entire island ?200 inhabitants and, on a busy day, about 200 tourists as well? is located about 25 kilometres above Virgin Gorda. Anegada is one of the few Caribbean islands composed of coral and limestone, unlike the other islands, which owe their existence to volcanoes. Anegada is therefore lower and flatter, its highest point being only 8.5 metres above the sea. Anegada (translation: 'the sunken land') owes its name to its geographic features. At this simple little bar on the beach you regularly meet Richard Branson after kitesurfing. In the 19th century, a ship loaded with cow bones sank on the reefs surrounding the island.
