The BC Ferries route from Vancouver to Bella Coola is one of the most beautiful ferry trips in the world. The journey takes you through the breathtaking Inside Passage, a network of fjords, islands and estuaries stretching along the coast of British Columbia.
Departing from the port of Horseshoe Bay in West Vancouver, the ferry sails north through Howe Sound, a scenic fjord with steep mountains and deep forests. The ferry then travels through the Georgia Strait, a wide stretch of water overlooking the Gulf Islands and the Sunshine Coast.
After the Georgia Strait, the ferry sails into the Inside Passage. This is the highlight of the trip. The ferry sails through narrow passages and past steep cliffs. You will see waterfalls cascading down from the mountains and dense forests covering the shores.
Along the way, you can enjoy views of the many wildlife living in the Inside Passage. You may see seals, sea lions, dolphins, orca's and even whales.
The ferry ride from Vancouver to Bella Coola takes about 32 hours. There are two sailings per week in summer and one sailing per week in winter.
