Inspired by the many old historical buildings and ruins in Greece, I created this motif. A gate, a passageway where you can't see what's in front of it. The full moon is reflected not only on the sea but also on the weathered ground. In the 1990s I spent nights in bays waiting for the moon to rise so that I could take slides from which I then painted this motif at home. The original is oil on paper 48 x 36 cm.
My first camera was a bellows camera that I got as a present from my father when I was 12 years old because he had bought an SLR camera. Later, when I started painting, I realised that I chose almost the same motifs when painting as I did.. Read more…
