Getting up early was worth it again. This impressive picture presented itself to me at sunrise near the Bastei Bridge on the Ferdinandstein. The Ferdinandstein is the best rock to see the Bastei Bridge. From here you have the famous view of the Bastei. The Bastei Bridge is the oldest and most famous tourist attraction in Saxon Switzerland.
The view over the Elbe valley to the table mountains of Saxon Switzerland and far into the neighbouring landscape of the Lusatian Highlands and the Eastern Ore Mountains is world-famous. At a distance of 130 metres and at a height of 194 metres above the level of the Elbe, the view from the sandstone plateau is unforgettable. The Bastei area with several views is freely accessible all year round.
Saxon Switzerland is the name given to the German part of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains in Saxony. The landscape, characterised by bizarre rock formations, lies south-east of Dresden on both sides of the Elbe in the district of Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains.
