About ‘Front Island 2’ by Mike Bing

This monumental building dates from the 19th century and has also served as the mayor's residence.

The original owner Hayo was a mediocre merchant, but had a high opinion of himself, as evidenced by the large mansion. He had to support a large family and because he was the son-in-law of Mayor Gerdenier, he also wanted to become mayor after the death of his father-in-law. After not being elected twice, Hayo understood that he had no chance at that office. He left Medemblik and on 28 April 1884 sold Vooreiland 2 to the state for 12,000 guilders.

Until the Second World War, the house served as a home for the medical director of the then state mental institution Landswerf on the Westereiland. During this war the Germans had an office in the house and during the flooding of the Wieringermeer polder five families lived in the building as evacuees. After the Second World War a dentist's practice was housed in the monumental building for many years. It has also served as the mayor's residence.

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
