Fuchsia or bell plant is a genus with 107 species in the evening primrose family (Onagraceae). Most species are shrubs.
Most species of the genus Fuchsia occur naturally in South America, but a few species are found more northerly in Central America to Mexico. Also in New Zealand and on Tahiti some species occur naturally. Fuchsia magellanica occurs southwards in the temperate climate up to the tip of Tierra del Fuego, but most species are tropical or subtropical.
