About ‘Hof’ by Jeroen de Jongh Photography

De Hof is the largest square in the city centre of Amersfoort. The square is part of the Rijks Protected Face Amersfoort. At the Court there is a market every Friday and Saturday.

The name de Hof goes back to the medieval episcopal court that was situated on a spur of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug where the river Eem flowed with a bend on the east side. This episcopal court is first mentioned in 1203, in an episcopal charter which shows that the court already existed in 1196.

The Hof was probably a place where the proceeds from the possessions of the bishop of Utrecht were collected. The bishop's court was probably not on the site of the current square, as no traces of the court were found here. Presumably it was on the north side of the square, where St. George's Church now stands.

In the 13th and 14th centuries the court was raised several times to make it suitable for markets. In the 16th century the Hof was paved and it was also known as Marktveld (Market Square) the place for all the markets in the city.

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
