About ‘Lionfish in attack mode’ by Martin Opladen
Lionfish belong to the scorpionfish family and have several poisonous spines in their dorsal, anal and pectoral fins, which they extend towards attackers (or photographers). This specimen swam straight towards me from the coral reef.
The picture was taken in the Red Sea near Hurghada, Egypt.

I have worked as a freelance photographer full-time and part-time in Mexico and Switzerland for the last 15 years. My main fields of activity have been architecture and product photography.
In my spare time I dedicate myself to landscape photography and - as a passionate diver - underwater photography. I offer some of my photographs from these areas here.
