About ‘Playing with light and rust’ by Robert Jan Smit

This photograph shows just how striking industrial heritage can be when bathed in low sunlight. The large steel surfaces change colour and almost seem to glow. Rust, once a sign of decay, actually becomes part of the aesthetic here.
The rounded shapes of the tanks and pipes contrast beautifully with the clean lines of the beams and supporting structures. This combination creates an image that feels both harsh and elegant. The eye wanders between the dark shadows and the brightly lit sections of steel.
What makes this photograph powerful is that hardly any trace of the original function is needed to make an impression. Without machines in operation or people in the frame, the scale remains palpable. Everything looks large, heavy and unyielding.
Industrial heritage often has the power to be more than just a reminder of the past. In images like this, it becomes almost abstract: a play of shapes, colours and textures that continues to fascinate.

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
