About ‘Primal ground - Study grey and brown 2’ by Hans Kwaspen

For me, Primal Ground is a visual exploration of the unnameable-a place where colour, texture and time converge before meaning emerges. In this work, I have captured a weathered surface in which rust, pigment and discolouration whisper their own story like traces of impermanence. It is a skin of matter that speaks without words.

My inspiration comes from the mysticism of Meister Eckhart, who describes the primal ground as the origin of all images and words. While photographing, I did not feel like a maker, but a witness to what had already formed in silence. The image was not constructed, but exposed.

The atmosphere is contemplative and layered-a hushed intensity that invites introspection. In line with Gerhard Richter's material art or Aaron Siskind's photographic abstraction, I let the surface speak for itself. Not an illustration, but an experience.

What makes this work special is the space it offers to the viewer's imagination. It is not a depiction of something recognisable, but an invitation to association. As a work of art on the wall, it acts as a visual anchor point-a place where time slows down and meaning slowly unfolds.

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
