About ‘Simple Enjoyments: Light and Shadow Play’ by Hans Kwaspen

As a photographer, I feel a deep respect for the beauty that lies in the simplicity of everyday objects. This photographic still life, featuring a glass bottle filled with rich, golden olive oil and a bulb of garlic, is an ode to the subtle splendour of the ordinary. The dark background enhances the textures and colours of the objects, while the light creates a sophisticated play of shadows and reflections, giving the composition a unique depth and dimension.

My work is strongly influenced by the classical still lifes of Pieter Claesz and the serene compositions of Giorgio Morandi. Like these masters, I strive to make the viewer dwell on the often overlooked beauty of the everyday. The minimalist arrangement and deliberately chosen dark background ensure that all attention goes to the objects themselves, without any distractions.

This still life invites you to stop and enjoy the simple pleasures of life. The combination of olive oil and garlic evokes images of Mediterranean cuisine, where these ingredients take centre stage. This image is not only a visual delight, but also a celebration of taste, smell and beauty, captured in a single moment.

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
