About ‘Spaarne’ by Jeroen de Jongh Photography

Het Spaarne, I would almost call it the lifeline of Haarlem. And otherwise this river in the capital of the province of Noord-Holland at least enough beautiful pictures. :)

Het Spaarne is a river in North Holland, the Netherlands. The river flows through Haarlem to Spaarndam. The name Spaarne is probably derived from 'Spier', which means reed.

Originally the Spaarne formed a connection between the Haarlemmermeer and the IJ. In the 13th century, at the mouth of the IJ, a dam with sluices was constructed in the Spaarne as part of the Spaarndammerdijk. This is where the village of Spaarndam came into being. The Kolksluis was built for shipping and centuries later the Grote Sluis. Because this is one of the most important drains of the storage basin water of the Rhineland Water Board, a steam pumping station was built in 1844, the Boezem pumping station Spaarndam.

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
