Sukhoi SU-27 of the Ukrainian Air Force.
The Sukhoi SU-27 (NATO code name: Flanker) is a multi-role jet fighter developed in the Soviet Union. The aircraft was developed by Sukhoi and is built by KnAAPO, NAPO or Irkut depending on the variant.
The SU-27 was originally developed as a long-range interceptor fighter. When production started, the fighter-bomber role was added and even later, when the SU-33 was developed, the anti-ship role. TheSU-30 variants can also perform specialized missions such as attacks on radar stations and are thus multi-role fighters. Like the U.S. F-16, the SU-27 is statically unstable and thus also has a fly-by-wire system.
