About ‘The Cure – Rock Werchter III’ by Tim Demel

This black-and-white photograph shows Robert Smith, frontman of The Cure, during the band’s legendary performance at Rock Werchter. By deliberately choosing black and white, the focus shifts entirely to the emotion, the composition and the artist’s distinctive presence. Without the distraction of colour, the contrasts between light and shadow are brought into sharper relief, which enhances the image’s timeless atmosphere. The photograph was taken from a low angle, giving Robert Smith an imposing presence and placing the viewer, as it were, right in the middle of the concert.

His reserved demeanour, with his arms folded across his guitar whilst he sings, exudes both strength and vulnerability. The diagonal lines of the microphone stand and guitar bring dynamism to the composition, whilst the out-of-focus stage elements in the foreground create extra depth. The strong lighting behind the artist frames his silhouette and emphasises his iconic hairstyle and recognisable appearance. This image goes beyond simply documenting a live performance. It captures a moment of complete surrender to the music and reflects the melancholic, introspective atmosphere that has characterised The Cure for over forty years. The combination of composition, perspective and monochrome rendering makes this photograph a powerful and timeless concert portrait, in which the focus is not only on the artist but also on the emotional experience of an unforgettable evening at Rock Werchter.

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
