About ‘The Hanged Woman’ by Saskia de Wal

This black-and-white self-portrait arose from a need to express a feeling that cannot always be captured in words. For me, photography is a way of making emotions visible, of reflecting on what lies within and translating that into an image.

Working in black and white shifts the focus to the essence: light, shadow, form and expression. Without the distraction of colour, an image emerges in which emotion and body language take centre stage. What is visible is more than just a portrait; it is a moment, a feeling, an inner movement.

For me, self-portrait photography is a form of exploration, reflection and expression. A way of showing what sometimes cannot be said, but can be felt. Through its timeless aesthetic and powerful simplicity, this work brings tranquillity, tension and emotional depth to an interior. An image that is not merely viewed, but also evokes a feeling.

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
