About ‘The stairs to.....’ by Paul ten Dam

Old dilapidated stairs

In 1817 the current fortress was built by order of King William I.

The fort played a role in the defence of Liege during the First World War. On 5 August 1914, the Germans bombarded the eastern forts around Liege with infantry and artillery. The attackers were wiped out and the artillery shells had no effect on the reinforced concrete of the forts. Nevertheless, the Germans were able to penetrate through the spaces between the forts. After fierce fighting in the streets of Queue-du-Bois, the hills east of Chartreuse were conquered on 7th August 1914, empty villages were found, the population had fled. The next morning Chartreuse was occupied and the Germans entered Liège via two undestroyed bridges. During the First and Second World Wars, the Fort de la Chartreuse was used as a prison by the Germans.

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
