About ‘shoco's Aruba’ by Nienke Bot
These beautiful photogenic creatures are found only in Aruba. They belong to the burrowing owl family and are called 'shocos' in Aruba. They are protected because they are endangered. They are also active during the day and can therefore be photographed. In the most unexpected places; in front of their burrow in the sand or under rocks.

I'm Nienke Bot, I'm 40 years old and I live in Harderwijk. I work in psychiatry. Nice work, but not always relaxed. In order to relax, I've been busy with photography lately. A nice hobby, with the big advantage that you become very aware of (beautiful) things around you. That one second of beautiful light, that one movement or situation that won't come back soon.
