Rainforests can be found almost everywhere in Costa Rica. Manuel Antonio, the Osa Peninsula, Monteverde and Tortuguero are just a few examples. In fact, the types of forests are different in each region. The traditional rainforests are found on the Osa Peninsula and in Tortuguero.
The tall trees form a canopy under which many animals, insects and bird species live happily. Some of the most famous animals found in Costa Rica's rainforests are sloths, howler monkeys, white-faced capuchin monkeys, macaws and poison dart frogs.
Rainforests are the reason Costa Rica has so many national parks, protected areas, reserves and such a wide variety of flora and fauna. They are the reason why you can find a great variety of wildlife and hiking trails. Rainforests come in many shapes and sizes. Thanks to Costa Rica's ecosystem, you can find 6 types of forests throughout the country.
